Independent reporting on the infrastructure Nigeria is building, and the engineering behind it.
We are a reading room rather than a news wire. We publish fewer pieces than most publications our size, and we spend the difference on getting them right.
What we cover
The infrastructure Nigeria is building, and the engineering underneath it — transmission networks, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and control. We are interested in how these things actually work, which is a different question from who announced them.
We are independent
We report on the contractors, agencies and utilities that build this infrastructure. We are not one of them, we are not commissioned by them, and we are not paid by them. Where a piece describes a project, the company that delivered it is the subject of the reporting and not its author.
Where figures come from a project’s own published scope, we say so, and we attribute them. Sponsored work, if we ever run any, is labelled “Paid content” and never made to look like reporting.
How we work
Every article says who wrote it, where the project is, and how long the piece will take to read. Where we get something wrong, we correct it at the foot of the article and list it on the corrections page.
About the photographs
We use freely-licensed documentary photography, credited to the photographer with the licence and the source. Where we do not have a photograph of the specific site being described, we use one of comparable equipment and the caption names where it was actually taken. We do not present a photograph of one facility as though it were another.
